There is a lot to like about TeachMeet SEN.
For a start it’s a gathering of people just like you, from schools just like yours, with a shared interest in teaching children with special educational needs and disabilities.
It’s about sharing ideas. How we find ways to help learning happen, and how technology helps.
It’s also a celebration of the commitment and creativity of teachers. With a (brief) chance to step into the limelight. If you’re shy give a Nano presentation of 3 minutes. If you’re bold try a Micro at 7 minutes (and strictly no more). Or just chat with the people around you.
It’s a bit anarchic, because there is no set agenda, just whatever happens on the night. If there are too many speakers then not everyone gets a go.
It’s an opportunity to meet other people facing the same challenges as you do. Using different devices and approaches, and passing on their tips.
And it’s a lot of fun, with pizza, beer and soft drinks provided.
The only rule is, ‘No selling.’ We’re happy to hear about how different products have changed practice. But it is the practice we want to hear about.
Come and share yours.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Knight and the team at Tes for sponsoring pizza and drinks for teachers at the event.
