Publisher's delight with Dr. Graham Lawler
SEN publishing company Lawler Education had a delightful surprise at the last two TES SEN shows they exhibited at.
Two years ago at the Tes SEN Show, publisher and maths author Dr Graham Lawler said he was delighted to meet up with a former student who is now a maths teacher. Dr Lawler said: "It was a lovely surprise to see this delightful young woman who now teaches maths in a London school. I hadn't seen Aman for the best part of thirty years and to find that she had moved into maths education - well, it made this old teacher swell with pride. Now we are in touch via social media and she is using our books in her teaching and loves them."
At the 2017 show, Dr Lawler again had a surprise reunion. He said: "Last year, this chap came on the stand and I thought I know him, I said his name and he then recognised me. We taught together in Leicester for a number of years. So this show is a great opportunity to meet up with former colleagues and friends as well as clients."
Networking is a key benefit of attending the Tes SEN Show. Designed for all levels of the SEN profession as well as parents and carers, the show invites a unique mix of people who will undoubtedly be able to provide new insights onto visitors' needs.
Since the show, Lawler Education has now "made a great connection" with a Youth detention centre, who have become regular clients. Looking ahead to 2018, Dr Lawler said: "This year, we are looking to meet new clients and catch up with regular clients. It is now firmly part of our calendar and we are really looking forward to it."
