Tapestry announces The Cherry Garden assessment system

Hear from Tes SEN Show exhibitor Tapestry as they talk through their new assessment system, available to Tapestry accounts at no extra cost!

We at Tapestry are excited to announce the release of The Cherry Garden assessment system: a new and unique framework for students with SLD/PMLD working at a level expected for typically developing children aged 0-5 years.

The Cherry Garden framework was originally created by the team at the outstanding special school, Cherry Garden, in South London. Over the last few months we have been working with their deputy head, Stephen Kilgour, to add it to Tapestry, create interactive assessment screens, and design an analysis section. This has resulted in a flexible system which allows settings to show very small steps of non-linear progress across 24 aspects. We have also included friendly animated graphics that illustrate what students have experienced and how much they have grown throughout the year regardless of their achievement level, so both the student and their parents can sit together to see and celebrate their progress.

The framework will also allow practitioners to set targets, see how close the students are to achieving those, and to plan future activities based on what has already been covered and how each student is getting on in any group of selected areas. We’re very happy to say that this will all be available on every Tapestry account for no additional charge! It will join our growing list of SEND friendly features which include the ability to upload unlimited amounts of media, communicate with parents instantly, tag observations with your own completely custom keywords and then find related observations, and our existing SEND framework which was launched at the Tes SEN show in 2017. The SEND framework is based on the EYFS framework and Development Matters statements, with numerous new statements developed with the help of several SEND specialists, stages replacing the age-bands and the ability to refine each statement individually, rather than the aspect as a whole.

Tapestry will be exhibiting on stand 167, so come by and take a look! Register free now for the Tes SEN Show.
