Effective tutoring for learners with SEND and Looked After Children

08 October 2021 16:00 - 16:30

As a former Virtual School Head, Pat will share his experience working with tuition provider Equal Education, exploring how young people benefit from additional support. Attendees will explore the importance of pastoral care for those in care and with complex SEMH needs, particularly how tutors help build a positive relationship with the young person and help them to relate with those around them (including involvement of parent/carer).

The session will also cover how tutors raise confidence, self-esteem, advocate for children and young people's qualification choices and provide provision to help get them there. Plus, attendees will discover how multi-agency collaboration is increasing aspirations for young people and helping them to achieve qualifications.

Suitable for Key Stage 3 - 5
